For my inaugural post to the Whoosh Learning blog, I would like to introduce Whoosh Learning to the virtual world. While we have not officially launched our site to the public, we are hoping, through this blog, to begin gathering some important feedback on Whoosh Learning from you – interested parents, teachers, and others – and to start creating a bit of buzz, of course.
I created Whoosh Learning because, as an elementary school teacher, I began to see a pattern emerging among my students. Many of them lacked basic skills knowledge in math and reading and struggled to reach higher-order thinking skills. When I became a mother, I looked for programs to help my own children master fundamental math and reading skills, but found the courses available weren’t flexible, were too expensive, and didn’t keep my children enthused. Whoosh Learning was developed to give parents and teachers a platform for advancing elementary school education in an effective, affordable, flexible, and fun way. I believe programs like Whoosh – that get back to basics – will play an important role in shaping the future success of our students.
This past July, I started my own daughter on Whoosh Learning. In October, her teacher tested her reading skills and found that she had advanced by six reading levels! It’s was great to see the promise of Whoosh Learning in action.
As a parent and teacher, I designed Whoosh Learning so my children could easily build the skills they need to be successful in school. Now that I’ve seen how well it works, I’m excited to share it with the rest of the world!
